The Promise

medium: oil
"The Promise" is more than to love one another... it is a betrothal; which is here written in hebrew. The translation is 'I am to my beloved as my beloved is to me'. It also references the marriage contract ...the promise...agreed upon, signed by the bride and groom as well as the Rabbi (the officiant) & witness to their union (the Ketubah)... leaning up in background. The entering into a marriage is not on a whim but to be entered into with deep understanding of what a union is between two people who are in love.
