Roberta Millman-Ide

was born in Southern California. She spent her childhood in both Hawaii and Southern California. She has traveled extensively across the United States and has ventured as far west as the Tahitian Islands, south throughout Mexico and Central America, and North into Canada. She has visited Great Britain, Italy and spent time in Israel. Under the influence and encouragement of her parents (who had a love and respect for the arts and the most sincere belief that Roberta's art "obsession" was a God-given talent) her multi-faceted creative expressions flourished. As a child, Roberta was drawing on any available surface. Her bedroom walls were covered with rolls of drawing paper. She went to school with sketch pads in hand and instructions to the teachers stating that it was to save their desks from being used as a canvas.

Her artistic talent developed quickly resulting in many achievements and awards throughout her youth. By the age of 9 when Roberta wasn't drawing, she was playing music on flute & piccolo. She gave solo recitals and won many music competitions throughout her High School years in Oceanside, California.

In 1976, on a music scholarship, she entered California State University in Long Beach (CSULB). During college, Roberta returned to her love of art and applied for the prestigious CSULB Graphic/Advertising two-year Design program. In 1979, she was one of approximately two dozen students accepted out of hundreds for the 1980-82 Program. Under the guidance of Archie Boston (the Director of the Design Program, an exceptional teacher and Graphic Designer) , Roberta honed her conceptual and visual art skills.

In 1982, she graduated with a BFA and spent the next decade working with two prestigious California Advertising Agencies (DFS/Dorland & BSB Worldwide), while continuing her art education at the Art Center of Pasadena. The combined elements of concept and strong visual design became the essence behind Roberta's award winning advertising and graphic design work.

In 1993, Roberta moved to Northern New Jerseywith her husband and two young sons where she established her design company "another bright IDEa, production".

Roberta has painted wall murals, created mosaic tile artwork, and, (even today) continues to design unique jewelry, including composites of her print art adhered and enameled onto glass medallions. Her work is often inspired by her dreams, taking the chaos of a dreamscape and simplifying the image to convey its underlying meaning. Roberta has created her own unique art style by a fusion of Conceptual, Illustrative and Contemporary Representation blended onto a single canvas.

Today Roberta devotes herself primarily to her oil painting and fine art. Although, in addition to creating art work for herself and for various exhibitions, she has produced many pieces to help raise money for non-profit organizations those to which she feels a personal connection). * She also creates artist's websites and offers workshops on Promoting Yourself on the Web. This stems from her belief that:

"alone we are just a candle in the wind...

...but... to be the fuel that inspires others to shine, one has the ability to illuminate the world."

Roberta Millman-Ide

Her work is proudly displayed in numerous private collections throughout the world.
